Determining and assigning responsibilities, in liaison with the appropriate Service Manager(s), within the Routing Engineering Cell
Determining 1st, 2nd and 3rd level fault ownership within the NATO IP infrastructure
Ensuring that all requests for support are dealt with according to priorities, set procedures and standards
Ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to resolve incidents and problems in the Routing and Switching service architectures
Ensuring that the Routing and Switching backbone Network provides agreed levels of service and data integrity
Ensuring that network performance of Routing and Switching traffic is monitored, reviewed and fine- tuned where appropriate
Ensuring the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures
Ensuring the drafting and maintaining of procedures for all Routing and Switching Operation and Maintenance activities
Ensuring that the Routing and Switching team is able to meet exercise and mission support requirements as agreed with Operations and Exercises
Developing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external agencies
Ensuring that training material presented by NCISS is appropriate and accurate
Maintaining an awareness of developing trends within the wider communications field
Investigating and evaluating proposed technical solutions in collaboration with internal and external agencies
Performing any other appropriate duties which may apply.


Job requirements: 

  • A Master of Science (MSc) degree at a nationally recognized/certified University in electronic engineering/automatic data processing, business management and 5 years post-related experience
  • Or a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at a nationally recognized/certified University in electronic engineering/automatic data processing, business management and 7 years post-related experience
  • Or exceptionally, the lack of a university/college degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidate’s particular abilities or experience that is/are of interest to NCI Agency; that is, at least 12 years extensive and progressive expertise in the duties related to the function of the post
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in all aspects of design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance and repair of large IP communications networks and related equipment in a Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) environment
  • Must have no less than 5 years management experience within a service delivery or fulfilment position, with direct experience managing multiple staff members
  • Excellent knowledge of Information Systems (IS) Engineering and the associated aspects
  • Strong knowledge of recent technological developments in Information Technology (IT) systems and LAN/WAN environment related to Cisco Systems
  • Three years’ experience in on-line performance, accounting, fault, security and configuration management of digital and analogue networks and associated transmission systems to include switching systems in support of voice, video, and data transfer
  • Experience in QoS in IP-Networks with regards to design and implementation in large scale networks at the WAN and LAN levels
  • An understanding of IP packet encryption, Firewall and Intrusion Detection System Technologies
  • Shall have general understanding of related communications systems and techniques of MPLS, Voice and VOIP technology
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience of commercial and/or military network environments


Additional information: 

  • Sound knowledge of communications protocols and practical experience of using diagnostic test equipment
