Job description: 

LOCATION: La Spezia, Italy
DURATION: 6 months with possible extensions
CONTRACT: Consultant
SALARY: Negotiable daily rate

• Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations
• Protecting data, software, and hardware by implementing network security measures
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and other network problems
• Replacing faulty network hardware components when required
• Maintaining, configuring, and monitoring virus protection software
• Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made
• Conferring with network users about solving existing problems
• Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems
• Coordinating and configuring computer network access and use
• Configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software

Job requirements: 

• Industry Certification from CISCO at least equal to a CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Relevant University Degree
• Deep knowledge of hardware installation (cabling, racking, labeling, upgrading, maintaining, troubleshooting…)
• Basic experience in supporting field work conducted by means of computing facilities
• Hands on experience and good understanding of network protocols and equipment
• Knowledge about VPN technology
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting of L2/L3 Network Environments
• Experience in documentation of solutions, maintaining user/administration guides and step-by-step instructions
• Good understanding of Windows and Linux network stack
• Familiar with a multi-national work environment
• Understanding of data-diode concepts
• Experience with industry standard network management tools (e.g. Solarwinds, Splunk, etc...)
• Experience with Operating in an Virtual Network Environment
• Experience in designing and configuration of alert systems
• Experience with centralized security software management tools (McAfee ePo, Symantec EP. etc.)
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
• Very good English (oral and written)

• Hands on experience with application layer firewalls
• Security certifications, such as CEH, ComTIA sec+ or equivalent
• Experience with other network devices (e.g. data diodes, SATCOM)
• Knowledge of the principles of command and control (C2) systems
